Las pampas de Nasca (cuatro en total: Palpa, Ingenio, Nasca y Socos) se encuentran en el departamento de Ica, a dos horas de su ciudad capital. Son 50 km de desierto cubiertos por figuras enormes que representan mamíferos, insectos y dioses.

LAS LÍNEAS DE NASCA

Llamadas así desde su descubrimiento en 1927, son el vestigio más increíble jamás dejado por una cultura forjada trescientos años antes de la era cristiana. Las figuras resultantes de sus complejos diseños y trazados, algunos de casi trescientos metros de longitud, solo pueden ser completamente apreciadas desde el cielo, a 1.500 pies de altura.

¿Para qué y cómo se hicieron las lineas de nazca? Son muchas las teorías que tratan de explicarlo: entre ellas, una sugiere que eran pistas de aterrizaje para extraterrestres y otra, que eran un gigantesco sismógrafo. Lo más probable es que, como señalara María Reiche, se trate de un monumental calendario astronómico.

CENTRO ARQUEOLÓGICO DE CAHUACHI

Al este de Nasca, también encontrarás restos arqueológicos: Cahuachi, uno de los centros religiosos más importantes de la cultura Nasca, el cual, se dice, fue la capital de la cultura Nasca.

Más al Sur podrá conocer los pueblos de pescadores: Lomas y Sacaco. Subiendo por la carretera Nasca - Puquio podra conocer la Reserva Nacional Pampa Galeras Bárbara D"Achille y podrá apreciar a las hermosas vicuñas y si viaja en Junio, conocerá la ancestral ceremonia del chaccu, una propuesta tradicional y amistosa con la naturaleza y la industria textil a la vez.

A Nasca, se puede llegar avanzando por la Panamericana sur hasta el km 444. Un recorrido que dura siete horas. Partiendo de Lima hay varias líneas de buses que llegan a Nasca a precios comodos. Cuenta también con un aeródromo en el km 447 de la Panamericana sur, pero este solo recibe vuelos privados (taxi aéreo).
